Most of us are getting those Bar-b-ques fired up to get ready for the Memorial Day Weekend!  This is a very “American” holiday because it marks the remembrance for those who died in service to our country.  Memorial Day was declared official on May 5, 1868 and is celebrated in many ways.  For one, people tend to put flowers on the graves of soldiers across the land and since we are still at war – we shouldn’t forget those who sacrificed for our freedom.

On a lighter note, many also see “Memorial Day” as the kick-off of summer! This weekend  also marks the opening of many public swimming pools, fairs, and other outdoor activities that bring families together.  If you plan an “event” around this holiday, remember to keep it light, fun, patriotic (if you want to), and inclusive for everyone involved.  Of course the traditional event tied to this weekend is a picnic in the park or backyard!  So bring your family and friends together, share recipes, family history and a relaxed weekend of fun.

In last week’s article I mentioned that I would give more details on the upcoming Los Angeles Swearing In and Gala for Speaker Karen Bass’.  We are still putting those details together – but all of you mark your calendars for Thursday, June 5th there will be a celebration and fundraiser at Sony Studios and on Friday, June 6th will be the Swearing-In Ceremony at Los Angeles Trade Tech where everyone is invited!  I promise I will have more information for you next week!

Have a great weekend – be safe and invite someone over that might not have a place to go!

Give your all in all that you do. Then the PLUS won’t just be more, it will be the difference!
