The Black Voice recently announced a hat contest for local churches. The contest is open to the community and the first place winner will receive a $100 contribution to their church’s scholarship fund and a gift card from a local hat vendor. Second place will receive a $50 gift card, and third place will receive a $25 gift card. The deadline for submission is May 26th.

According to Rachel Strugatz from WWD.com, “The royal wedding is the first time in decades that hats are expected to markedly make a comeback, and milliners are rejoicing. American hat designer Eugenia Kim already thinks Kate Middleton has impacted the hat trend and there has been a recent increase in demand for her ornate pieces from buyers.”

Participants can enter as many times as they choose. The winners of the hat contest will be chosen by a select group of fashion experts to be highlighted at the end of the contest and featured in a special edition of the Black Voice News. They will also receive a profile and photo wearing their winning hat. All contestants will be published in the Black Voice News and blackvoicenews.com.

To submit an application for the contest, please submit a JPEG photo of yourself wearing the hat you would like to enter and a brief history on why you enjoy wearing hats to annaw@blackvoicenews.com. Please include name, church name, address, phone number, and email address.
