NFL Hall of Fame Running Back honors 2003 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee Marcus Allen

NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson will host the Inaugural Eric Dickerson Hall of Fame Golf Classic, a two day event being held on April 24 & 25, 2003, at the Industry Hills Golf Club & Pacific Palms Resort in Industry Hills, CA.

The Eric Dickerson Foundation along with Mogul Media Group, are teaming up with professional athletes and Hollywood celebrities to host two memorable days of fun including a four-man scramble golf tournament, V.I.P. barbeque and pool party, along with pamper sessions featuring massages, facials, manicures and much more. Confirmed celebrity participants include: Marcus Allen; Ray Lewis; Cedric the Entertainer; Ricky Williams; Marshall Faulk; Mitch Richmond; Junior Seau; Charles Oakley; Flex Alexander; Anthony Anderson; A.J. Johnson; Salli Richardson; Mike Epps and many others.

The “Hall of Fame Toast,” will take place at the Pacific Palms Resort Ballroom to honor Marcus Allen. The evening gala celebrates the career achievements of the 2003 NFL Hall of Fame enshrinee. Allen was the first player to rush for 10,000 yards and catch passes for 5,000 more, was a six-time Pro Bowl running back with the Los Angeles Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Named Rookie of the Year in 1982, he was also Super Bowl XVIII MVP, league MVP in 1985, and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 1993. “Marcus is an exemplary role model for kids today…showing them that if you work hard you can go down in the history books too!” said Eric Dickerson. As part of the gala event there will also be a silent auction display full of authentic NFL autographed memorabilia and much more.

The goal of this two-day function is to raise funds to provide educational grants and scholarships to deserving and talented students who have the aptitude and ability to attend some of the nation’s best preparatory academies and schools but cannot afford the cost of tuition. “Our public school system has been suffering for a long time.

Overworked teachers, slashed budgets and overpopulated classrooms are only part of the problem – add to that inner city environments and troubled youth and it seems almost a miracle if any of these kids are college bound,” comments Eric Dickerson.

The Eric Dickerson Foundation has recognized this much ignored problem area, and is raising funds to award scholarships to kids locked into the failing public school system. Many kids do not receive the attention and guidance needed to give them an opportunity to excel beyond their own environments and limited expectations. The Eric Dickerson Foundation wants to reward students who will be the leaders of our future. Special thanks to our participating corporate sponsors: AT&T; Magic Johnson Enterprises; Miller Brewing Co.; the St. Louis Rams and Miskeen Originals.
