In a non-league early season high school football match-up, Riverside Poly and Redlands East Valley make it interesting in the fourth quarter and tie each other at 22-22. Poly travelled across the 10 freeway to challenge a Redlands East Valley team that was ranked 4th in CIF Division I.

The “grind it out” Wildcat running game, combined with several early season mistakes from both squads left the crowd of 3,000 uninspired at times.

The fourth quarter was Poly’s good fortune. Down 22-14 with little time remaining, the Bears drove the length of the field, scoring a touchdown on a 20 yard pass from Anthony Andrew. Poly then completed a two point conversion to tie the game.

Standout quarterback Nate Johns from REV was 8 of 12 passing for 80 yards and also rushed for 72 yards on six carries. John’s, a superior athlete, has all the tools and is worth the price of admission.

Junior tailback Nathan Acre was outstanding for REV as he scored three touchdowns and gained 98 yards on 18 carries. Poly quarterback Anthony Andre was 18 of 29 for 277 yards and three touchdowns.
