Last week, The Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program’s Forum on Diversity and the Media, with the support of the Ford Foundation Media, Arts and Culture Division, convened a roundtable meeting entitled The Future of Advertising and the Attention Economy: Leveraging the Influence of Ethnic Media.

Leading media experts, including Black Voice News Associate Publisher, Dr. Paulette Brown-Hinds, were invited to explore the role ethnic media can play in the future of advertising and marketing.  Working groups also developed strategies that advertisers, ethnic communities and media might adopt to strengthen the business development and growth of these media outlets and the communities they represent.

The Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program is a global forum for leveraging the power of leaders and experts from business, government and the non-profit sector in the communications and information fields for the benefit of society.

Its roundtable forums and other projects aim to improve democratic societies and diverse organizations through innovative, multi-disciplinary, values-based policy-making. They promote constructive inquiry and dialogue, and the development and dissemination of new models and options for informed and wise policy decisions.

As with all Aspen conferences and forums, a report will be distributed to policy makers and opinion leaders within the United States as well as available to the public at large through the World Wide Web.
