Community Action Partnership of Riverside County (CAP Riverside) is offering a special Saturday Community Action Academy course on Volunteer Programs on Saturday, June 18, 2011. It will be offered a second time on Saturday, July 23. The courses will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Community Action Partnership of Riverside County, 2038 Iowa Avenue, Suite B-102 in Riverside.
The 8-hour capacity building course is being offered for a fee of $65. Participants will learn all facets of running volunteer programs, including recruitment, training, development, recognition, and retention.
The Academy courses are designed to give representatives of community and faith-based organizations, and community members-at-large, the chance to learn basic capacity building and grant development skills. Participants receive a manual and a CD of forms. Similar programs offered through colleges and foundations can cost several hundreds of dollars, but CAP Riverside provides these important community development skills at a very low cost.
Additional Community Action Academy courses to be offered in June are Program Budgets on June 23 in Riverside and Strategic Planning on June 30 in Indio.
Participants must register in advance, as space is limited. For more information and a list of all courses, contact Lilly Cardoza at (951) 955-4900, or visit www.capriverside.org
