Last Wednesday San Bernardino Community College Trustee Joseph Williams held his campaign kick-off for the newly created District 2. I have been extremely impressed with Joseph and the work he is doing for the people of the San Bernardino/Rialto area. He’s definitely working hard to earn our support.

During his event Joseph outlined his plan for empowering the district with a focus on:

  • Equity
  • Access
  • Choice

He wants to lower the expense of community college by expanding the Middle College concept, which will reduce the amount of time is takes for students to complete their associate degrees. He believes it’s important to expand and build on the career and technical education offering within the district. And he would like to develop a process for professional development and career advancement for faculty, staff and administrators.

This is significant because California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the US and the largest provider of workforce training in the nation, and the San Bernardino Community College District fills that role for San Bernardino County.
