[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css_animation=””]The tale is told of a city under attack. Its citizens in utter fear grabbing all that they could hold in their hands fleeing the place they once called home amid the sounds of the screams of fellow citizens, the sound of the swords and the hooves of the horses filling their ears.

Embedded in this exodus was an old man carrying nothing but the cane he used to support himself as he moved as quickly as he could along with masses.

A fleeing young man noticed the old man’s lack of things in his hands and was compelled to ask him why he was leaving all his possessions behind. The old man turned to the young man and said “Omnia mea mecum porto,” translated as “All That’s mine I carry with me.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content_no_spaces” parallax=”content-moving” parallax_image=”1418″ css=”.vc_custom_1441800370027{padding-top: 5rem !important;padding-bottom: 5rem !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css_animation=”top-to-bottom” css=”.vc_custom_1441811950471{padding-top: 100px !important;padding-bottom: 100px !important;}”]

In other words, he considered his knowledge and character of greater value than the material possessions he had accumulated over the course of his lifetime. In his mind he constantly carried everything he valued.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Whether this tale is true or not, the words of that old man left a deep impression on me. So much so that I’ve made them the foundational philosophy of my company Carrington Case. On a personal level, I decided to face each day with a carry everything mindset. My pursuits lead me to discover that there are 3 basic values in living a carry everything lifestyle; preparedness, efficiency and balance. I also discovered that when these values are applied through the creative medium of design, the results give new meaning to functional fashion.

I can’t wait to share with you what I’m discovering about practically applying each of these values to life and design. You may come to realize, as I did, that your hands may be full but you are not carrying anything at all. Until next time, #carryeverything.
