[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The holiday season is winding down, but not before we celebrate with one last toast for 2015, and show you how to cap off the year in style.

The team here at Bevel accomplished a lot this year, and while it’s great to celebrate big wins as they happen, New Year’s Eve can also serve as a time to celebrate by turning it up in grand fashion.

Tuxedos are generally reserved for black-tie events, weddings, and galas, but on NYE, it’s a whole different ballgame. When we think about tuxedos, what generally stands out are questions like, How formal do we go?, How much playfulness should we incorporate?, or Is a tie even necessary?

Well the good news is that the NYE Tux is actually easier to pull off than you may think. Just pay close attention to the finer details and you’ll be set to add ‘fashionably luxurious dabs’ to your repertoire of dance moves in no time.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey” align=”align_center” style=”” border_width=”” el_width=””][vc_column_text]

PICK THE APPROPRIATE LAPEL

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Lapels typically come in three different types for jackets: notch lapels, peak lapels, and shawl lapels. The notch lapel, as shown in the picture below (far left), is a good choice that is probably better suited for the professional setting, and in most cases, can take a backseat to the superiority of the other lapel options.

Also pictured above (middle), the peak lapel is much more of a step in the formal direction, characterized by its outward edges pointing upwards. Because it’s considered one of the most formal types of lapels, it also works by providing a slimming effect to a person’s overall figure. Shawl lapels (pictured right) is another signature look – one that is pretty much exclusive to tuxedo jackets. Known for their rounded edge and clean appearance, this makes them perfect for color contrasting.

CONTRAST COLORS TASTEFULLY

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]And when it comes to color contrasting, you can never misstep with the classic black and white combo. But considering it’s New Year’s, color should be your first choice. Thinking of going monochromatic? Try hints of color that can be used to give that much-needed balance. Just avoid wearing too many bright, vibrant colors on your tux since we’re not trying to look like we’re going to prom.

And for that playful approach that mixes maturity with a hint of sophistication, combine variations of black with seasonal tones like navy, burgundy, olive, and camel.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey” align=”align_center” style=”” border_width=”” el_width=””][vc_column_text]

DON’T BE AFRAID OF STATEMENT JACKETS

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4121″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” css_animation=”left-to-right” img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Sure, it’s a tux, but who says we can’t have a bit of fun? Rich textures like velvet and suede are nice ways to keep things interesting, particularly if your look is monochromatic. Sometimes it’s even the simple details like silk lapels that help pull off the look.

You can also consider a jacket with bold colors like navy or deep purple. Patterns are also surprisingly easy to pull off, but remember that if you’re carrying most of the attention on a statement jacket, it’s smart to dial down everything else in order to strike some balance.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey” align=”align_center” style=”” border_width=”” el_width=””][vc_column_text]

DITCH THE BELT

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

This is a slight detail that some might overlook, but tuxedo pants generally should be worn with suspenders instead of a belt. And a waistcoat isn’t always necessary. But if you’re rocking one, the suspenders can be hidden underneath. You could also leave the cummerbund on the shelf; it can look slightly outdated and ill-fitting for the occasion. When in doubt, try your best to keep it modern and minimal.

ANCHOR YOUR FEATURES WITH A BOW TIE

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4122″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” css_animation=”left-to-right” img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

Nothing tops off a well-donned tuxedo better than a proper bow tie, and whether it’s a butterfly, semi-butterfly, straight end, or pointed, all are acceptable based on your taste. Men with strong, facial features are better-suited for butterfly bow ties, while men with more narrow features may prefer the slimming look of a straight end. Again, black is the no-fail color move here, but experimenting with textures, shades, and patterns are doable for those with the poise and confidence to…Read more at bevelcode.com
