The Washington State Cougars brought their national top 15 offense and 400-yard per game passing attack to Pasadena, but the Bruin defense rose to the occasion by shutting down the Cougars in the second half to win. Both Pac 12 teams are now 4-1.

UCLA true-freshman quarterback Dante Moore (Detroit) is a gifted athlete and has shown glimpses of what his tenure will bring, but he’s a work in progress and simply can’t do it all by himself. The Bruin defense was on display at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, elevating the offense with their inspired play.

Bruins trailed 10-9 at the half, then scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to hold off the Cougars. With the Cougars driving in that last quarter, UCLA junior linebacker Oluwafemi Oladejo intercepted quarterback Cameron Ward to stop their progress. Bruins win 25-17.
