For more than a year, photographer and CatchLight Local Fellow, Aryana Noroozi, documented the impact of warehouse developments on communities in the Inland Empire through the lens of events unfolding in the unincorporated inland area of Bloomington. Her goal—to provide a 360 degree perspective on the issue including impacts to residents, the environment and the economy, as well as the role of local politicians and developers involved in the industry’s expansion. Warehouse developments are rapidly expanding across the Inland Empire region, resulting in the displacement of residents and the loss of community identity, while environmental activists, elected officials, planning commissioners, and the trucking and construction industries are fighting for their livelihoods.
