In December 2025, President Trump directed the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to review the U.S. child vaccine schedule. As a result, of the 18 vaccinations listed on the CDC’s Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule, just 11 vaccines are now recommended.

In 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom issued an Executive Order N-06-19, which tasked the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and Department of General Services (DGS) with tackling the state’s affordable housing crisis by identifying underutilized state-owned land that could be converted into affordable housing, with consideration to factors such as proximity to job centers, amenities, and public transit.

Under AB 1264, recently signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom, CA became the first state in the nation to ban ultra-processed foods in schools. Ultra-processed foods are defined in the state as any food or beverage that contains thickeners and flavor enhancers, high amounts of saturated fat, sodium, or added sugar, or a nonnutritive sweetener.
