Riverside

The Annual Family Village Festival will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2005 from 10 am to 5 pm in the heart of downtown Riverside on Mission Inn Avenue, in front of the Riverside Metropolitan Museum.

This Festival celebrates the diversity of Riverside through stage entertainment, cultural exhibits, interactive workshops for children, international storytelling, and food from around the world. The soul of the festival is a group of “villages” distinguished by their celebration of unique cultures. We invite the public to wear regalia of their native tradition.

This event is free to the public thanks to the generous support from the City of Riverside, The Riverside Museum Associates, the Riverside Metropolitan Museum and local businesses.

The Riverside Metropolitan Museum is operated by the City of Riverside with the support of the Riverside Museum Associates. The Museum, which operates the main Museum on Mission Inn Avenue and the Heritage House on Magnolia Avenue, is a center for learning and a community museum that collects, exhibits and interprets cultural and natural history.

In a rapidly changing community, the museum provides an understanding and appreciation of our region’s legacy. The Multicultural Council of the Riverside Museum Associates organizes the Family Village Festival. The purpose of the Family Village Festival is to celebrate the varied cultures of the world. The festival organizers hope to create an event that invites the exploration of culture, honors tradition, promotes communication among families, and achieves unity through diversity.
