Basketball legend and business leader Earvin Magic Johnson announced that he is endorsing California State Treasurer Phil Angelides for governor. Johnson who led championship teams in college, the NBA, and the Olympics, and has gone on to become a widely respected and successful businessman – said Angelides is the right person to lead California to new heights in the years ahead.
California needs a new Governor. Phil Angelides has the business experience, the proven leadership skills, and the vision to be a great Governor, said Johnson. As Governor, Angelides will renew opportunity for Californians, so we can have the best schools, the best colleges and the best chances for our children.
Angelides, whose campaign is chaired by Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Barbara Boxer, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, appeared with Johnson and Congresswoman Maxine Waters in Los Angeles Crenshaw District at Magic Johnson Theatres.
They also met with area Black Publishers to outline his campaign.
